Joss Jaffe combines reggae and world to create a blend of acoustic and electric sounds all his own with his new release Dub Mantra Sangha. Take a little Thievery Corporation, mix it with Jai Uttal and then add some Jack Johnson, and you have a feel for what Jaffe is presenting in this new sound, where influences such as U2 and Toumani Diabate can also be heard. Dub, an extension of reggae born in the 1960s, Mantra, a word or sound that is believed to have sacred or special power, and Sangha, community. All of these elements come together in Jaffe’s music. Joss Jaffe began playing music at a young age, when he started writing and producing his own songs. Along with touring the world, Jaffe also spreads his knowledge through classes and workshops.
