Simon Yugler

Listed as one of the “Top 30 Adventurers Under 30” by Open World Magazine, Simon is an internationally experienced trip leader and group facilitator, having led programs in nine different countries with National Geographic Student Expeditions and Carpe Diem Education.  As an anthropology student, Simon was awarded a grant to travel to a remote corner of Australia’s Northern Territory, and catch a glimpse into one of the oldest indigenous cultures on Earth. Since then, he has made a life of international travel, traversing regions of the Middle East, East Africa, Central & South America, and the South Pacific. He has traveled East Africa overland, participated in Zimbabwean ancestral ceremonies, and studied with a family of Shipibo healers in the Peruvian Amazon. His writing has been published in Conscious Traveller Magazine and the book, ReInhabiting the Village. He writes about travel, world culture, and spirituality on his blog, Travel Alchemy (www.travel-alchemy.com).

Through travel, we are presented with life changing opportunities to engage in authentic cultural exchange, to become dynamic change agents and community leaders. A result from over five years experience working in cross-cultural environments around the world, this workshop is designed to help us learn the principles of right relationships, how to recognize and dismantle the colonial legacy within ourselves, and become cross-cultural ambassadors for our communities, and the cultures we come into contact with.
